Mysterious Motorola Droid X coming to Verizon?

June 11th, 2010 admin

The gang at Phandroid have got their hands on pics alleging to be Verizon internal documentation that details an up-and-coming handset called the Droid X. Honestly, this sounds like it could still be an internal name to us, although there has been some speculation that the handset is, in fact, the launch name of the Motorola Shadow / Xtreme that would be accompanying the Droid 2 for a Summer launch. Moving on down the line, this thing purportedly has a 4.3-inch display and Safari 4.0 for the browser. While Android’s browser is also WebKit-based, we’re calling shenanigans on any info that says this phone (if it exists) is shipping with Safari. More info…

Verizon Motorola Droid 2 sales begin
Is it tomorrow already? Must be because the Droid 2 is now up for sale on Verizon. $199 plus a two-year commitment takes home this Android 2.2 (Froyo) QWERTY slider with 3.7-inch 480×854 WVGA display, 8GB of internal memory plus another 8GB on microSD, and 5 megapixel camera. And unlike the original Droid just updated with Android 2.2, Verizon...

Motorola DROID’s built-in apps don’t have multitouch support, third-party stuff is another story
Turns out that the DROID does support multitouch after all — it’s just not as baked as the MILESTONE’s , and it’s certainly not the kind you’ll see out of the box. The DROID’s European cousin features multitouch right in the phone’s core software load (most notably pinch-and-zoom in the browser, which...

Motorola takes another shot at the iPhone 4, says Droid X is ‘no jacket required’
Well this is getting good . Motorola was one of the first to take a subtle swipe at Apple’s iPhone 4 antenna dilemma with an ad saying you could hold the Droid X “any way you like,” Apple came right back with a video purportedly showing the Droid X suffering similar attenuation issues when held in the right hand, and now Moto’s...

How would you change Motorola’s Droid X?
Last week we gave the Apple loyalists in attendance a chance to rip and rag the iPhone 4 , and this time around we’re doing the same for Motorola’s best frienemies. The Droid X is without question the largest Droid in the family today, and calling it a showstopper on Verizon would probably be understating things. Now that it’s...

Verizon leaks another Droid 2, getting BlackBerry Storm 3, Curve 3, 10.1-inch tablet later this year?
Now that the Droid 2 has officially reached “leaking like a sieve” status, we thought we’d toss you another couple shots of the Droid X’s QWERTY-equipped cousin, which we’re being told is locked for an August release on Verizon. If you’re more of the BlackBerry type, though, we’ve got some news for you,...

Droid Incredible specs confirmed on Verizon site
Yes, good people of Engadgetland, we finally have an official spec sheet for the eagerly awaited Incredible handset. A 3.7-inch OLED touchscreen leads the way, with an 800 x 480 resolution, which will offer the full Google Experience on Android version 2.1. That sounds remarkably like a refashioned Nexus One to us, even down to the 1GHz Snapdragon...

Motorola mini Droid slider caught by Mr. Blurrycam
Okay, this one’s a complete and very welcome surprise — some extremely blurry pictures and a quick video of what appears to be a smaller Motorola portrait QWERTY Android slider for Verizon just popped up on the Chinese Hiapk forums — and yes, it’s got the glowing red Droid eye. We’re not sure if that means the Droid...

How would you change Motorola’s Droid?
The anti-iPhone . The phone that “does.” The first Motorola device that we’ve seen in years that’s downright awe-inspiring. Naturally, we’re referring to the Droid . VZW spent all kinds of money to hype up this Android 2.0 handset as the phone to get if AT&T’s 3G coverage was just too weak for your liking,...
